iRobot Home App Reviews

Pretty much everyone has been saying this so I hope folks in iRobot will soon take care of it. Most importantly Id want to see the actual battery status on the app. Also push notifications is a must have feature. Id like to be able to better handle the errors from the app itself without having to go to the unit. Finally I want to see the map in the app. I believe Roomba is really not doing a good job as it keeps vacuuming the same spot over and over while some places are not touched and I wonder how is everything viewed from the devices own perspective.

I agree with others about seeing a map feature since this robot is so advanced it would be great to pinpoint an area to clean. Also I noticed that the cleaning history is not updating, it still has the first day I used it and nothing else even after a job is performed I thought the sq. ft. count would go up on how much it has cleaned. Push notifications would be great to see the status or if its stuck on something. I had no problem connecting with my wifi to use the app and I love how you can pause it and restart as well as schedule thats why I went with the 980 model. Just a few changes would make it great!

All you can do is set some preferences and start or stop. In my opinion the app needs 1. Battery status 2. Spot cleaning mode. A self generated map that you can select areas for it to go clean. 3. Errors and issues. Like bin status, reason for errors etc. 4. More customizable cleaning options. Like twice or three times per day. Active household and would like more regular cleanings 5. Ability with map to tell it not to clean area as exclusion or period of time. Better than moving barriers around. Thank you for the Roomba its picked up more dust and dirt than I would have thought considering how much we clean.

I just bought the 980, because of its integration with iOS and this app. I agree with everyone else, its a great start but there are some simple additions that would make this an amazing app/device combo. 1) add a battery level and bin status to the app 2) add push notifications 3) add an Apple Watch app. I would love to do the basic controls and see whats happening just from my watch. I dont really carry my phone with me much any more. 4) adding in the map of what it finds and allowing us to edit it would be awesome. 5) HomeKit connectivity would be great. Maybe allowing it to turn on or off our hue lights to help it clean better would be a good feature. Again, great product and great app. This is our first robotic vacuum and we are excited to see where this will continue to progress.

Needs to have a map so that you can pinpoint an area to clean and the time that you want it to clean that place. Like after dinner clean under the table in the dining room. Also it went home in the middle of the job but the app keeps telling me I cant cancel the job. Also would like to add my husbands phone but it says it cant find the roomba. I think for 900 bucks the app needs to be updated a bit more frequently. Thx

I have been very pleased with the Roomba 980 and accompanying app but feel there could be more functionality added. Adding to what others have said about spot cleaning and battery status in the app, I would like most to have the ability to define different settings for individual cleaning days. One day a week I might want a very thorough cleaning but other days only need a quick clean.

We love the roomba 980. Our 1st one. History stopped updating after about a month. I have a support call into roomba, and I came to the App Store to see if there was an upgrade. Hey iRobot. Please take all the feedback you are getting in these reviews and put it in your backlog. People here are suggesting great ideas that will keep you ahead of the competition.

I have the 900 series vacuum and its replacing one 3 versions ago. Its amazing and a game changer. The app needs work but it most definitely does the job. Two stars deduction for the lack of below. Well documented but needs: 1) Needs battery indicator - amazing this isnt a feature. 2) Push notifications - please add. 3) Make "works with Nest" compatible.

Triumph over our "to be" human slaves is still far far away. Pro: +It runs Con: -Worst Robot Vac UI award 2016 -No option to save maps for future use and select cleaning area? Wasted potential -History record still buggy -Push notifications is hard to implement, need to hire more Nobel laureates and rocket scientist -Do they care about customer feedback??? The app doesnt live up to the "revolutionary roomba since 2002 hype" by IRobot

Would like to see a percentage on the battery charge. Also, with all the hype about room mapping, I would like to see a live view of the house map like the video on the irobot website. Why cant I see a map of my own room? I am sure that roomba sends that info back to headquarters!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. DONT BOTHER USING THE APP TO CONTACT THEM. THE RESPONSE YOU GET WILL MAKE YOU ANGRY ENOUGH TO ADD A RANT TO YOUR REVIEW LIKE THIS A $900 robot vac ought to come with support. What a joke.

This app really offers very little in terms of information about the progress of the vacuum. I am astounded that it doesnt even offer push notifications when there is a problem.

I have an iPhone 6 and it will not work with the app. Keeps saying no robots found.

Feels like so much missed from this. E.g battery charge level. And a map of the cleaning area and area cleaned...why not, the machine tracks this I think.

This app does exactly what it advertises that it does, and does it VERY well! I havent had a single problem with app or the Roomba so far. This is definitely the best Roomba Ive owned by far (knock on wood) and has been the one that requires the least maintenance besides just emptying the bin.

App is good but would suggest a few upgrades including see power level of the roomba, location of roomba and alert option of when it started and finished cleaning.

Its good, does what it says. It would be nice if it gave you alerts like if there is a problem or when its done cleaning. I run my room a downstairs when we get ready to go up and go to bed. So, if there is a problem I dont know about it until the morning.

Great app! I just wish there was a home button that you can press instead of just the clean button.

Needs: -Home button -Battery level -Map of area completed -Ability to have the robot back up from the charger 4-8 feet with push of button on app, for maintenance and to pick up robot, in the cases where the base is placed out of sight or under a bed.

Like others have said, this app is very simple at the moment, but it does a great job. Some new features that I would find valuable if added: - Battery level - Home button - More noticeable app alert/notification for when the bin is full - Health/status indicator for filter(s), bin, core robot, and debris extractors - Ability to clear history

When it starts up from schedule, need ONE button to shut up and go home. If you werent ready or on a call or distracted, telling it "never mind" or "do it later" needs to be immediate option Id like to actually speak to it for a few things, like not now, go home, or come over here and clean this spot. Now that Amazon Alexa had multiple Mics, seems Roomba could be next Cant it at least notice the patterns of noise and light in the house, and maybe wait for when its not so busy, but not at night. The Nest ecosystem notices calm and empty times of the day I thought I would be able to see through the 900s camera in real time, to "monitor", but thats not what they mean. Maybe image is heavily processed for computer vision, so would not look good, but maybe grab a copy before it applies CV filters Also, if I could see through the camera, how about letting me talk back and forth? Id also like to see the map it draws, like other reviewer Also, how about Amazon Alexa integration, handle voice through that device. "Alexa, tell Roomba to clean now", or "tell Roomba to clean later!" The scheduling is very primitively for a 2016 device. The spot cleaning is cool but doesnt work if the spill is near a wall. They need the same idea, but also for rectangular areas and corners, and really work the edge cleaners I hope some of this can be handled in future software updates. But still a nice gadget!
